You’ve made your video, and you’re ready to share your story.

Great! Now it’s time to submit your entry. Only three short steps to go, and you’ll be participating in the Engage 2012 Challenge! If you’re having trouble with any of the steps below, ask an adult for help. If you are an adult and you still need some clarification, please contact us at

Step 1: Upload your video to YouTube. If you don’t already have a YouTube account, you can create one here (you’ll need one in order to upload your video.) Note: You must upload your video to Youtube to participate in the challenge. If you upload your video to Vimeo, Hulu, or another video-sharing website, your entry will be disqualified.

Step 2: Your entry must contain a Creative Commons license for CC BY. This license allows others to distribute, remix, tweak, and build upon your work, even commercially, as long as they credit you for the original creation. You can easily add this free license to your video entry when you upload it through YouTube.  Simply click on the button under “Broadcasting and Sharing Options” that says, “Creative Common Attribution license – reuse allowed.” YouTube has provided directions for how to do this here.

Step 3: Gather your signed parental agreement forms and your signed release forms. Then, scan them onto your computer and save them as .pdf files. Keep the copies handy for the next step.

Remember: You’ll need a signed release form from everyone who appeared prominently in your video. You’ll also need signed permission from the owners of any video segments, sounds (songs are included), pictures, and anything else you used in your video that you didn’t make yourself. All forms can be found here.

Step 4: Fill out our online submission form.  You’ll be asked to upload the signed release form and parental agreement form you prepared in the previous step. You’ll also be asked to provide a URL that links to your video.

That’s it. You’re all set!

Now that you’ve officially taken the challenge, why not share our website with a friend, teacher, or classmate?

Become a Student Ambassador and you can make an even bigger impact in your school and community by motivating other students to participate! The top two performing Ambassadors in each region will receive a copy of Adobe Premier Elements. Interested? Become a Student Ambassador now!
